Abhinav Bindra (Punjabi: ਅਿਭਨਵ ਿਬੰਦਰਾ, Hindi: अभिनव बिंद्रा , born September 28, 1982[1]) is an Indian shooter from Zirakpur, in Mohali district, (near Chandigarh), Punjab and is the current World and Olympic champion in the 10 m Air Rifle event. He became the first Indian to win an individual Gold medal at the Olympic Games and the first gold medal since 1980 for India by winning the gold in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.[2][3].

Abhinav Bindra comes from an affluent Sikh [4] family. His parents are Dr A S Bindra and Babli Bindra.[5] .
He studied at the Doon School, Dehradun till the 10th standard and then left for St. Stephens School, Chandigarh to pursue shooting, He has completed his MBA from United States of America. And did his ranger shooting training in Germany. Practiced his skills 12-to 14 hrs a day at his own world class shooting ranger station worth millions of dollers at his farmhouse near chandigarh.[citation needed].

Abhinav Bindra potential talent was first spotted by his first coach Lt. Col. J.S. Dhillon[6][7]. Abhinav Bindra was the youngest Indian participant at the 2000 Olympic Games.[8] He scored 590 (98,99,98,97,100) placing him 11th in the qualification round, and did not qualify for the finals (only the top 8 compete in the finals).[9]

He won six gold medals at various international meets in 2001.
In the 10 m Air rifle event at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Manchester, he won Gold in the Pairs event and Silver in the individual event.
At the 2004 Olympic Games, he scored 597 in the qualification round and was placed third behind Qinan Zhu (599 - Olympic Record) and Li Jie (598). In the finals, Abhinav finished with 97.6 points, last in the field of eight and was the only player below 100 points. His sub-par finals dropped him from third to seventh.[10]
At the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, he won the Gold in the Pairs event and the Bronze in the Singles event. Abhinav missed the 2006 Asian Games at Doha because of a back injuiry.

Bindra booked his place in the 2008 Olympics by winning the gold medal at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships with a score of 699.1[11]
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Abhinav Bindra won the gold for the Men's 10m Air Rifle final after shooting a total of 700.5. He scored 596 (fourth) in the qualifying round and out-scored all other shooters in the finals with a round of 104.5. In the finals, he started with a shot of 10.7, and none of his shots were below 10.0.[12] Bindra was tied with Henri Häkkinen heading into his final shot. Bindra scored his highest of the finals - 10.8 (A Bullseye) while Hakkinen came with 9.7 to settle for Bronze medal.[13]
This was India's first individual gold medal at the Olympics, and the first gold in 28 years, since the Men's Hockey team won the gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.[2]

Abhinav Bindra holds an M.B.A. (Masters in Business Administration) from the University of Colorado, US. He is the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics, a PC games peripherals distributor based in Chandigarh.[16].

BEIJING (AP) — Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle Monday, giving India its first medal of the Olympics. The 2006 world champion entered the final in third place but overtook China's Zhu Qinan and Finland's Henri Hakkinen by scoring 104.5 points for the title. ------------------ Abhinav Bindra from India has won the gold medal in the men’s air rifle at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Bindra shot a total score of 700.5. Zhu Qinan who won the gold medal at the Athens games, won the silver medal with a score of 699.7. Henri Hakkinen from Finland took the bronze medal, with a score of 699.4
5 to be learnt Lessons on Making Money with Affiliate Programs
In the last 24 hours I’ve been interviewed 3 times and on each occassion I was questioned about affiliate marketing and how to make money from it.
Here are 5 lessons that I found myself touching on in each interview.

1. Relevancy between Audience, Product and Content
One key to high conversion when promoting affiliate products is to align as much as possible the needs of your audience, with the product that you are promoting and the content being produced on your blog.
For example if my readers are all beginner digital photographers, I’m producing a blog with content that teaches basic principles of photography and I was to promote to them a book or course on beginner to intermediate photography tips - I’d have a pretty good chance of generating some sales and therefore commissions.
However if I was to promote the same course here on ProBlogger the campaign would fall on it’s face and I’d probably do my reputation more harm than good.
2. Trust is Crucial
I find that affiliate promotions tend to work best on a blog that has been around for a while where the readership has been journeying with the blogger for a while.
When you read someone’s solid advice on a daily basis over a couple of years you’re much more likely to buy something that they recommend than buying something off a complete stranger. It’s all about establishing credibility and trust.
3. Traffic is Key
There’s no getting around this one - you increase the chances of a conversion with the number of people who see your invitation to purchase a product.
Of course it partly depends upon the audience - not all traffic is equal.
For example I could hit the front page of Digg with my post promoting a product and get 100 times the traffic that a normal post would have and the conversions would not be 100 times higher (simply because Digg readers don’t tend to take much note of affiliate products and because I have no established relationship with them).
However as your loyal readership grows in numbers you do tend to increase conversion possibilities.
4. Reinforcing the Message
I wrote about this in my ProBlogger Newsletter a few weeks back - but I find that rather than just posting once about a product that you’re promoting - it can be much more effective to find ways to reinforce a message over time. You might start off with an announcement post that tells your readers about what you’re promoting, you might follow up a few days later with a review of it, then follow up a week later with a reader testamonial, then follow up with an interview of someone behind the product….
The key is to find useful ways to talk about the product without annoying your readership (not always easy). In doing this you remind and reinforce the ‘pitch’ for you reader to buy.
5. Positioning
Affiliate promotions tend not to work very well if all they are is a banner ad in your sidebar. They will still convert - but nowhere near as well as if you position your promotion inside a post itself as the topic of the post.
Write about the product you’re talking about, talk about how you’ve used it and make it personal.
